In partnership with Wright to Learn, the LSCF is presenting the hybrid Levy Lecture: Safe(r) Shopping Online with Candace Browdy on Thursday, April 2, at 2:00 pm! Online shopping is widely used and often very convenient, but how can you tell if your information is safe? Join us in person in Bobby’s Room at the Levy Senior Center or online via Zoom to learn strategies to keep your financial information secure, detect bogus websites and deals, and research your purchases before you buy. Step onto the court for Hoops for the Ages, an exciting basketball tournament for men and women 40+! Join us on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm at Evanston Township High School, where both the Men’s and Women’s divisions will compete. This tournament serves as a qualifying event for the 2027 National Senior Games in Tulsa, Oklahoma, so bring your team and your competitive spirit! Registration closes May 20, 2026. Do you enjoy word games in a fun and collaborative setting? The LSCF is continuing Bring Back Scrabble with Sarah Serota. Levy Senior Center members will bond through games of speed, strategy, and skill with tile-based word games such as Scrabble and Bananagrams – no expertise is needed!. The program will be held in Craft Room B at the Levy Senior Center on Fridays from 1:30 – 3:00 pm, with the first session beginning on January 9 - end date to be determined. Registration is closed.
Join Northwestern PhD student and dramaturg Hannah Probst for a virtual Levy Lecture on Thursday, April 16, at 11:00 am via Zoom, exploring the fast-moving, kaleidoscopic world of Love & Information. Hannah will dive into Caryl Churchill’s Love & Information, a striking, vignette-driven play featured at Northwestern’s Wirtz Center from May 1–10. Composed of over 100 brief scenes, the play captures fleeting moments of connection, confusion, and revelation, examining how we seek, lose, and attempt to rebuild intimacy in an information-saturated world. The LSCF is seeking a summer intern from high school or college who enjoys engaging with the senior population! Responsibilities of this paid position include managing the weekly Friday Farm Stand, which entails setting up, welcoming visitors, and distributing produce. The Farm Stand will run every Friday from June 5, 2026, through November 6, 2026, from 10:00 - 11:30 am. Additionally, interns will assist in maintaining vegetable gardens and contribute to various projects as needed. We encourage interns to pursue projects aligning with their unique talents and interests. Art skills are a plus! Click here to contact us.
Love card games, classic word games, and spending time with others in a relaxed, social setting? Stop by for one game or stay for the morning to enjoy Open Games. Open Games will take place every Thursday, beginning January 29, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Elm Room at the Levy Senior Center. Drop in to enjoy a variety of games, including Scrabble, Uno, Mahjongg (don’t forget to bring your own cards), and other card games. Whether you come with a favorite game in mind or want to try something new, all experience levels and games are welcome! No registration is required—drop in and join the fun!

Do you struggle with aspects of your smartphone, tablet, or laptop? Need help utilizing FaceTime or Zoom, scanning QR codes, organizing and sharing your photos, downloading apps, sending emails, or even navigating patient care portals and hospital websites? Tech Tuesdays can help you with a variety of issues you may be experiencing. The Levy Senior Center, in partnership with the LSCF, continues to offer appointments for free tech support and training to help you feel more comfortable with your devices. To make an appointment for a 30-minute session in the Levy Senior Center library, call the front desk at (847) 448-8250 today. Appointments are available Tuesdays 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
Are you seeking a creative outlet? Join artist Lana Berry for the Levy Special Event: Cut It Out! This three-part collaging workshop will be held on Mondays, April 20, April 27, and May 4, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm in person at the Levy Senior Center. Lana will guide you through each session, helping you design and create collages from start to finish, with tips for success and prompts to help you spur ideas. No experience is necessary! This is an opportunity to walk in and walk out with a unique piece of art designed by you to decorate your walls with or give as a gift to loved ones. The Levy Senior Center vegetable gardens offer an ideal opportunity for gardening enthusiasts to volunteer, make friends, and learn from fellow volunteers and master gardeners. Join other volunteers from the Center and Garden Club of Evanston in planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting plants. You decide your time commitment—as much or as little as you like! By participating, you'll get to socialize with other passionate gardeners, gain knowledge and skills, and contribute to your community’s beautification. Are you interested in talking with young people? Talking Benches, an opportunity to engage in intergenerational conversations, is returning! The program will be held at the Levy Senior Center in the Elm Room on the following Tuesdays: Feb. 24, March 10, March 24, and April 21, from 4:15 to 5:30 pm. Older adults will be paired with high school students who will come prepared with a list of questions; be prepared with your own list as well! Each conversation will last about 30 minutes before participants rotate. The students are eager to hear about your life! Registration is closed.
Featuring acclaimed speakers, the LSCF's YouTube channel presents previous Levy Lectures and Longevity presentations. The series engages our community on a range of subjects, including improv, storytelling, the politics of Indian removal, and integrative approaches to aging well, among others.
