About the Foundation

The Levy Senior Center Foundation was created to provide funds to the Levy Senior Center to enhance its programming, offset expenses and improve the facility.

The partnership between the Foundation and the City of Evanston enables the Levy Senior Center to sustain its first-rate programming and facility.

The Foundation offers free cultural experiences with two music series, a lecture series, aging well programs, free theater tickets and writing workshops through community partnerships. We pay for improvements to the Center,  underwrite events and much more!

Foundation programs help Evanston-area older adults remain active, independent and connected.

What We Do

What We Do

Levy Lecture Series

Theater Tickets

Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts: The LSCF also receives free tickets from Northwestern’s Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts. The tickets are awarded via an email raffle.

Gardens

North and South Gardens, and Rothschild Courtyard Garden: The Foundation ensures the upkeep of the gardens at the entrance to the Levy Senior Center and provides for annual plantings for the containers in the Hulda B. and Maurice L. Rothschild Enabling Garden in the courtyard.  Additionally, the LSCF ensures that the garden furniture and hardscaping, including the raised mosaic planters, are kept in top condition.

Vegetable Gardens: With with the help of volunteers and local garden clubs, the LSCF installed, planted and now maintains eight raised vegetable beds. Produce grown is given to older adults in the Levy Center Community.

Friday Farm Stand: In partnership with Evanston Grows and the City, the LSCF holds farm stands from July through October, giving away produce grown in our own, and other community gardens to local older adults experiencing food insecurity.

Program Support

Aging Well Programs: Heaven Can Wait offers memberships free to anyone 90 and older. Centenarians are also entitled to a special birthday cake and celebration with the 100th Birthday program.

Senior Day Trips: Through the Dennis Newton Scholarship Fund, travel expenses are subsidized for all attendees, and scholarships are available to all in need who apply. We also sponsor virtual events.
