This is an exciting new movement class designed to improve balance, strength and mobility in older adults. Exercises are adapted from an evidence-based falls prevention program.
This eight week series teaches rhythmic routines to several different musical genres. Every two weeks, participants will learn fun new combinations that will results in a mini-performance at the end for family and friends.
Participants will partake in strength and balance screenings before and after the series to assess program effectiveness. You will gain important fall prevention skills while having a great time.
This program is proudly brought to you by a joint effort through the City of Evanston, Dance Center Evanston, and CJE SeniorLife to foster creative outlets for positive aging.
Classes begin on Monday, March 5 and meet weekly on Mondays for eight sessions from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center. The class number for classes at the Gibbs-Morrison Center is: 514350B8.
There is also a Move it or Lose it! series available at the Levy Senior Center. Classes at the Levy Center begin on Tuesday, March 6 and meet weekly on Tuesdays for eight sessions from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. The class number for classes at the Levy Center is: 514350A8.
The fee for eight sessions is $23 for Levy members and $38 for non-members. You can register for the class by visiting the City of Evanston website.
