The popular virtual Levy Lecture Series continues in June with five new living history Zoom presentations featuring storyteller and trained actress Megan Wells.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this robust lineup for our members to help promote engagement and interaction while sheltering at home,” said Wendi Kromash, Levy Senior Center Foundation board member and host of the virtual lectures.
Wells’ storytelling is described as “a delicious combination of storytelling warmth with the emotional dynamics of great theater.” A trained actress, Wells discovered the art of storytelling 22 years ago at the National Festival in Jonesborough, Tenn., an annual gathering of world-class storytellers. She has won three national awards as a solo artist, storyteller and theater director, and her one woman shows and story programs draw from world myth, folktale, literature, history and personal experience.
Next month, Wells will offer these five stirring interpretations via Zoom on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. central: Florence Nightingale; Ray Bradbury’s “Dandelion Wine”; Miep Gies (woman who found and saved Anne Frank’s diary); Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein) and the historic Chicago Fire in 1871.
